wisdom from children

Today I did something new. I changed a bike tire tube--on the back tire. I've never done this before, but Ben needed it done. What's a mother to do? I went to Walmart (gag) and purchased a tube.Had to go back home again to check what size tire we had. Silly me. I was expecting "kid size" "small" or something like that. No, they are in inches. Then I had to locate the correct tools to take apart the wheel, chain, remove the tire, (that is hard!! I pinched my fingers so many times) replace the tube, put the tire back on, (that is harder! I may have to wash my mouth out with soap after this), the put the chain back. on and screw everything back together--woops--extra pieces! Take it apart and re-put it back together. There. done. Ben gave it a quick test ride down the street and everything worked. As I loaded it in the car to go to the park, I warned Ben, "I think I fixed it, but if it messes up while we are at the park, Don't worry, we'll bring it home and Daddy will work on it." Then came the wisdom from Thomas.

"And if Daddy can't fix it, then it's Bob's turn, cuz he can fix ANYTHING. Right mama?"

"Yep, he sure can,son."

By the way, the chain came off while we were at the park. Daddy will have to work on it now.

The next thing he said that was pretty wise was when we were riding in the car. Thomas noticed that Molly has new teeth. Out of no where Thomas exclaimed, "God is growing Molly's teeth!"

While I was working o the bike Thomas tooted...loudly. He then told me it was ok to do that outside because the air takes it away and it doesn't stink.

Also, I let the boys watch Free Willy yesterday. They loved it! I couldn't believe how into it they were! They were concerned for the boy, the whale, the bad guys. They cheered. They laughed. They were on the edge of their seats at the end. Something about that movie tugged at their heart strings.
