Thomas got a tiny bike (with training wheels) for Christmas when he was 2 1/2 because Ben got one that year too and we figured "mokey see, MOnkey do" right? We he hated the bike and was scared to ride it. He prefers the tricycle or big wheel--more solid base, I suppose. I would encourage him to ride it here and there. He never really liked the bike. It scared him or something. Last week or so ( over 3 years later) he showed interest in riding his bike. Yesterday said, "mama, teach me to ride this two-wheeler." We took his small bike to the school track where we always go riding bikes. Josh took the training wheels off. I jogged about a miled trying to keep up with him during the lesson. He crashed a few times. He never cried. The bike pedals scratched his shins. I suggested we come back tomorrow and wear pants. He said, "NO I want to keep doing it until I don't need any help." So we did. It didn't take that long. He caught on quick. He just needs a little push to get started. Today we went back and he rode Ben's old bike without training wheels too. That bike is a little more his size.
