My baby's got a cavity!

We went to a dentist appointment. Ben was scared. We talked about it all week. He knew it was coming. He didn't want to go, but we went. He was brave up until the moment when the dentist asked, "who's first?" Ben anxiously and willingly volunteered his little brother to go first. You know, being polite and all. Thomas has no cavities and gave the dentist some evil looks after his turn while he sat in the corner watching his brother get his. Ben fought with all his strength not to let that dentist touch his mouth. Afterwards, I asked him if it hurt. He said no. I asked how if felt. He said, "Yucky. It tasted yucky in my mouth." That would be the latex gloves, I guess. Ben's teeth aren't too good. He's got to have outpatient surgery to crown a cavity. Surgery. I'm taking deep breaths to get through this. I had the dentist go over it with me a couple times--pros, cons, everything. A stainless steel crown in my baby's mouth!! And some fillings. But Ben and Thomas are both as happy as can be because they each received parting gifts of Sponge Bob toothpaste and Sponge Bob toothbrush. OOOOH. Ahhh. All is right with the world.
