The worm...
Ben and I were playing in the back yard and Thomas was crawling on the patio. Ben said, "Look, mama. Worm. A worm." I was like, "yeah, uh huh, a worm. That's nice." Then I turned to really see what he was pointing to. At that point I screamed, "Run inside, Ben! Run away! It's a snake!!!" Ben, terrified, ran with me and Thomas in the house. Once inside, I said, "Ben, that was a snake." He replied, "snake scared me." Thus begins the healthy fear of snakes. Everyone I questioned said it was probably a king snake, or a common black snake or some other non-poisonous snake. That doesn't make me feel too at ease. A snake is a snake. And a snake gives me the heeby-jeebies.
